How to Use Visual Content in a Social Media Strategy

Digital visual content lives online. And it’s either imagery or video for social media, blogs, websites, and so much more. At Coffee Date Media, we use visual content to reach and capture audiences interested in our products and services, and in this article, we’ll show you how you can too.

What is Visual Content?

Knowing what visual content is in social media will help you learn what resonates with your audience, depending on who you’re trying to target. This is the key to growing your followers. Before developing your content plan, understanding visual content and how to build a strategy is essential. Below are some examples of visual content.

  • Infographics
  • Slide decks
  • Memes
  • Short-form videos
  • Digital Ads
  • Statistical charts
  • Interactive content
  • Images

Why is visual content essential to your strategy?

Platforms like Tiktok, Instagram, and YouTube dominate the space with visual content in the form of video and images. However, short-form videos are helping marketers grow brands and social media accounts more quickly. Therefore, it would be best if you had a short-form video strategy to ensure you get all the benefits of new eyeballs.

Backlinkco found that 37% of marketers have cited visual content as the most important type of content when marketing online. And for a good reason. Video has shown that it can generate more impressions over a single image on a social media platform.

How can you create a content strategy for your social media marketing plan?

Visual content doesn’t have to be complicated when you know where to start. We are here to help you with all your content needs, from videos to memes. To get started, below are a few steps you need to follow to utilize visual content and meet your business goals.

  • Start with understanding who you want to reach. Think about demographics, Interests, Likes, and what a follower would like to see. Once you understand the WHO, you’ll understand HOW. And make sure you know which demographics are on which platforms.
  • Next, determine what your target audience likes to watch an engage with. Are they sharing more videos? Do they prefer informational carousels, or do they like memes? Each demographic will be different, so you need to understand these things before you can put together a plan.
  • Then, put together categories and topics of the most asked questions. Use Google or Ask the public to find the questions people are already trying to get answers to. Once you have these, it will be easier to narrow down the list to find holes where you can fill in your answers.
  • Create the content. Schedule specific days to batch-create your content. Take another day to edit them and schedule them all on a platform that will release the posts to those channels. Remember, focus on 1-2 leading platforms and introduce others once you’ve got a good handle on the two you decided on.
  • Post and review the analytics. It would help if you got comfortable reading the data. Check out the in-app analytics if you have business or professional accounts enabled.

Once you have the data from your followers, create more of what they enjoy and less of what they aren’t. Or, try other ways to reach them using different content types.
